"Lawless"
Three Popcorns
Genre: Drama
Cast: Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jason Clarke, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain
Director: John Hilicoat
Rating: R
Comment: Excellent atmospherics transport you deep into the days of the bootleggers. The continuing suspense keeps you glued to the very realistic storyline.
"The Words"
Three Popcorns
Genre: Drama
Cast: Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Irons, Dennis Quaid, Olivia Wilde, Zoe Saidana
Director: Brian Klugman, Lee Sternthal
Rating: PG-13
Comment: Though many critics hated it, this is a compelling, well-performed illustration of the compounding, tragic impact of a lie on oneself and others. You feel a great sense of disappointment. Great cast and Jeremy Irons was masterful and moving, as usual.
"The Cold Light Of Day"
Three Popcorns
Genre: Suspense/Thriller
Cast: Henry Cavill, Bruce Willis, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Echegui, Roschdy Zem, Oscar Jaenada, Joseph Mawle
Director: Mabrouk El Mechri
Rating: PG-13
Comment: Despite the usual ridiculous "Road Runner" car chase scene near the end, it was an entertaining suspense yarn. Willis is a strong hero and Weaver overplays the villain. Still, a good escape film.
