FCCLA student leads state conference

Forty-two Manatee County students and their advisers headed to Orlando for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State Leadership Conference March 2 through March 6.

Lakewood Ranch High School senior Micaela Figueroa, this year’s state president, led the meeting.
Other state officers from Lakewood include Briana Nelson-Canty and Miranda Lim.

Manatee County FCCLA students competed in various categories, bringing home three gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze medals.

Twenty-two students earning top honors will attend the National Leadership Conference July 6 through July 12, in Nashville, Tenn. East County students are: Elizabeth Gape, Liana Price, Kyla Johnson, Hannah McWilliam, Sidney Oake and Michelle Sobolewski, of Braden River Middle School; and Niki Freer, Jessica Zelitt, Briana Nelson-Canty, Tiffany Williams, Hailey Todoroff, Taylor Nafziger, Meghan New, Charlotte Price, Alexis Gregor, Cassandra Rankin, Julie Smith and Christina Rothenberger, of Lakewood Ranch High.

New state officers for 2013-2014 from our district are Lakewood Ranch High students Nicoletta Freer, president-elect, and Hailey Todoroff, vice president of recreation.
