The trees were loaded with juicy peaches and the blueberry bushes full of ripe purple goodness last weekend at King Family Farm. The market is now open each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 .p.m and is located at 4630 60th Street E. (Caruso Road), Bradenton, FL 34203 and will remain open until the end of the peach and blueberry season. The market was a staple last year for many locals. This spring the Kings have decided to open the market for the local items they grow. They have eight acres of peach trees and an acre of blueberry plants at their Caruso Road location, grown with sustainable farming practices. The fruit is available for purchase in the market or U-pick.

Bring your tennis shoes and the whole family to pick ripe peaches right off the trees and blueberries off the dozens of blueberry bushes next to the market.King's sweet onions and honey from the farm are also at the market now, along with fresh lettuce bowls, herbs, flowering plants and other plants for sale.

The backdrop of the farm, with sweeping moss hanging from the trees, wildflowers and the fresh fruits and vegetables, is a breath of fresh air close to suburban life. The King Family Farm has been a go-to site for slow food, farm-to-table dinners and other "eat local" events.

The farm is available for weddings, group gatherings and private parties. Contact Shelby King at info@kingfamilyfarmandmarket.com for more information about reserving the farm and market. You can also "like" the King Family Farm and Market Facebook page for updates.
