+ Resident opposes cell tower
Dear Editor,
You have had many articles on cell towers but none of the articles have addressed the health hazard for children and adults working or living in proximity to a cell tower. I should mention pets and wild life and the effect on them as well.
I encourage you to Google ‘Firefighters cell tower’ and read ‘Pact Firefighters’ ban cell towers.
In 2004, the International Association of Firefighters banned the use of cell towers at or near firehouses. They concluded serious health issues to firemen in those fire stations with cell towers had occurred. This is one of many, many worldwide articles and lectures you will find.
As a resident of the Grand Mariner who lives within 250 feet of a proposed cell tower on the Longboat Island Chapel church property, I encourage all voting members of this outstanding church property to vote against the upcoming renewal to extend the lease for a proposed cell tower.
If everyone would take a minute and go outside and envision a 2,900 square foot platform, filled with power equipment less than 250 feet from your chair and ask yourself if you would mind looking at this every day. A tower doesn’t belong in a residential area or at any location on this most pristine and beautiful island.
