Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe’s production of “It Aint Nothin’ But The Blues” is a musical revue looks into the American music’s history, packing 40 songs into two-hours in a way that won’t leave one feeling blue.

WBTT will perform early African chants, torch songs, gospel numbers and Chicago pop. It ranges from Bessie to Billie, and from Jelly Roll Morton to B. B. King. This concert is a perfect reminder of WBTT’s mission to promote and celebrate the African-American experience — and African-American history is portrayed in conjunction with the chronological history of the music.

It is the opening weekend for the show, which opened Wednesday April 10 and runs through May 12 at Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe Theater, 1646 10th Way. Tickets are $29.50. Call 366-1505 for more information.
