NEWLYWEEDS observes Lyle (Amari Cheatom) and Nina (Trae Harris) who are in love with each other and with getting high, perhaps not in that order. Lyle makes his living repossessing rented furniture from the destitute, and smoking weed whenever possible. While Nina yearns for more, she seems unable to break out of the self-medicated loop. Through a series of circumstances, the seemingly happy couple find that the life they had was built on a stack of smoke and is quickly and irrevocably evaporating.

Unable to afford treatment, many choose to suffer through minor illnesses in the hopes that they’ll just go away. REMOTE AREA MEDICAL documents the annual two-day “pop-up” medical clinic operated by the non-profit Remote Area Medical (RAM) at the NASCAR speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. This is an unflinching look at people in need of care and the one-of-a-kind community that assembles in the hope of securing a healthy future.
