The Manatee County Fire Chiefs’ Association recognized the outstanding performances of the area’s emergency rescue workers, during a special awards ceremony March 28.

Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue’s Lt. Nick Herlihy earned the “Fire Officer of the Year” award, while Myakka City Fire Chief Dan Cacchiotti earned “Manatee County Chief Fire Office of the Year.”

Individuals honored also included the 18 first responders from Manatee County, who responded to the 47-car pileup on I-75 Oct. 5.

Responders honored included East Manatee Fire Rescue District’s Battalion Chief Will Hall, engineer Eric Hoying and firefighters Jim Darby and Craig Madsen.

Others recognized were: Lt. Mike Questionati and firefighter Christi Hollins, Rich Galantis and Robert Davis, of the Southern Manatee Fire Rescue District; Lt. Mark Regis and paramedics Jimmie Hammrick Jr., Pat Rees, Jesse Mannix, Clinton Faulkner and Taylor Harrell and EMTs Aaron White, Keith Hall, Marlin Yoder and Craig LaVelle, all of Manatee County Emergency Medical Services.
