April 4
HOMEWARD BOUND
1 p.m. — 5800 block of Midnight Pass Road. Grand Theft. A woman told deputies when she returned from a cruise with her husband, her bicycle was missing. Police had impounded a bike matching the woman’s description in North Sarasota.

April 5
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
10:51 p.m. — 5200 block of Ocean Boulevard. Disturbance. An anonymous complainant waited on hold for 45 minutes for deputies to lodge a noise complaint against a bar. An officer drove by the location and did not hear any excessive sound.

April 6
AN HONEST MAN
8 a.m. — 1000 block of Boulevard of the Arts. Suspicious Incident. Hotel guests told an employee they saw a white male steal the license plate off of a vehicle on the property and leave on foot. A man approached the front desk and said he was the one who took the plate because he is a kleptomaniac. He left his information with staff, and said he didn’t care what they did with it, because he felt bad.

CAUSE AND EFFECT
5:23 p.m. — intersection of 10th Street and N. Washington Boulevard. Petit Theft. A man told police he parked his bicycle at a convenience store. While he was in the store, he observed four men steal his bicycle. The man began chasing the men, but had a heart attack and had to be transported to the hospital.

SIGNS POINT TO YES
6:49 p.m. — 200 block of Beach Road. Driving Under the Influence. Officers stopped a woman incorrectly wearing her seatbelt while driving over the speed limit. After noticing she had bloodshot eyes, deputies asked the woman to submit to an Intoxilyzer test, The woman’s blood-alcohol level was more than two times over the legal limit.

April 7
TRUTHFUL TEETOTALER
5:45 p.m. — 1900 block of Main Street. Lost Property. A man found five bottles of upscale liquor, worth about $200, lying in bushes behind a business. He turned them into police and said he didn’t know who put them there.

April 8
THIRSTY THIEF
6 a.m. — 900 block of Beach Road. Criminal mischief. The owner of a concession stand arrived at work and found one of the vending machines was damaged. An unknown suspect took all of the change and beverages from the machine.

A GAME OF INCHES
2:40 p.m. — 900 block of Beach Road. Vehicle burglary. A woman left her car window open five inches while at the beach and noticed her purse was missing when she returned. She told deputies she was unsure if the car was locked.

HE SAID, SHE SAID
4:36 p.m. — 2100 block of Ringling Boulevard. Suspicious person. An anonymous caller told police he saw a white male passed out in a parking garage. An officer found a woman lying on the concrete who said she was just resting in the shade.

WHAT MOMMA DON’T KNOW
6:20 p.m. — 6600 block of Midnight Pass Road. Disturbance. A convenience store manager called authorities to report a homeless man was yelling at customers. During an interview with a deputy, the man said he had a tattoo on his buttocks.

APRIL 9
NO BARKING
7:46 a.m. — 1100 block of Lime Avenue. Animal nuisance. A man reported two aggressive dogs near his property. An officer approached the dogs and they stood up and barked, and showed their teeth. The officer called animal control to take care of the problem.

THE USUAL SUSPECT
1:03 p.m. — 900 block of Beach Road. Grand Theft. A man told deputies his granddaughter set her phone down, turned away, and it was missing when she turned back. He said a “suspicious looking guy” was harassing them at the beach and suspects he stole the phone.

SOMETHING FISHY
4:05 p.m. — 6600 block of Midnight Pass Road. Grand theft. Employees at a seafood market left the store to smoke a cigarette and reported $400 missing from the register when they returned. Other tenants said they saw employees of a restaurant hanging near the back door. Deputies could not find any suspects.

EVERYTHING BUT THE KITCHEN SINK
6:15 p.m. – 900 block of Beach Road. Petit Theft. A man told police an unknown person stole his belongings while he was swimming. He reported a wallet with $14 cash inside, a pair of shoes and two white, linen towels missing.

April 10
LICENSE TO STEAL
7 a.m. — 1300 block of Boulevard of the Arts. Stolen tag. A woman reported that her vehicle tag was stolen. It was not a vanity plate.

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
11 a.m. — 100 N. Lime Avenue. Trespassing. Employees reported a man wearing a blue sweatshirt and black sweatpants was harassing customers and begging for money in front of a restaurant. When police arrived, the man fled on foot and the officer was unable to issue him a trespass warning.

DO NOT DISTURB
7:55 p.m. — 1700 block of 10th Street. Suspicious incident. A man got into an argument with a group of homeless people near his property. He told police they were being boisterous and annoying. Officers didn’t find any suspects when they canvassed the area.

April 11
WRONG ANSWER
12:55 a.m. — 5100 block of Ocean Boulevard. Driving under the influence. An officer stopped a speeding vehicle and the driver presented a shipping receipt when asked for his ID. The man kept repeating, “yes, sir,” even though deputies were not asking questions. The man nearly fell during sobriety tests, and told deputies he had a couple drinks earlier.
