Asolo Repertory Theatre is looking to cast four talented 10- to 12-year old children for parts in “Show Boat” and “The Grapes of Wrath.” It is a paid position and auditions take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 28 and 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 29, at Asolo Repertory Theatre Rehearsal Hall at FSU Center for the Performing Arts, 5555 North Tamiami Trail.

Casting directors are seeking a female to play Young Kim in “Show Boat.” The description reads: “Delightful and full of energy, bright and sweet, happy, open and full of life and wonder. Must be able to sing and move.”

There are four additional roles available for “The Grapes of Wrath.” Winfield Joad and Ruthie Joad are described as “Full of energy, bright, sweet happy and full of wonder.” The role of 1st Camp Girl/Ensemble is described as “Full of energy, bright and sweet, but also scrappy and feisty, ‘street-smart.’” The final role being cast is for Song of Man in Barn/Ensemble, described as “Tired, hungry, frightened. Beaten down by life, but still scrappy. A fighter.”

For dramatic auditions, prepare a monologue (no more than three minutes long). For musical auditions, prepare 16-bars of a brief song (musical theater, pop/rock or gospel), and a one-minute contemporary monologue (no more than three minutes).
