April 7
Leaving her mark
11:40 p.m. — 2000 block of 45th Street Court E. Property Found. A woman called the police to report her roommate, who had recently moved out, left items in the residence.
April 12
When push comes to shove
9:09 p.m. — 6100 block of Turnbury Park. Battery. A woman said her roommate grabbed her hair and pushed her onto the couch during an argument. The woman plans to begin eviction procedures against the other woman.
April 13
Welcome home
4:28 p.m. — 300 block of 67th Street NE. Car Theft. Unknown person(s) stole a woman’s car while she was away from her home. There was recently another burglary in the neighborhood where the theft occurred.
Selective stealer
8:48 p.m. — 6200 block of State Road 64 E. Theft. A department store loss-prevention specialist saw a woman conceal children’s clothing and detergent in her purse. She paid for items she had in a shopping cart and exited the store without paying for the items — valued at $52.11 — in her purse. Store security stopped the woman, and she was arrested.
CRISIS MODE
11:11 p.m. — 10500 block of Hamilton Way. Baker Act. A woman drank 15 beers and took numerous pills. She said she wanted to kill herself but retracted her statement when she realized she was talking to a deputy and said, “You are not going to Baker Act me.”
April 15
Wasn’t me
10:54 p.m. — 2800 block of University Parkway. Fraud. Two unknown people in a small gray hatchback presented a forged withdrawal slip with stolen identification and a stolen Visa card at two banks in Manatee County. The banks suffered a total loss of $3,450.
APRIL 13
While you were sleeping
2:13 a.m. — 300 block of 64th St. N.E. Burglary. A man entered a woman’s home while she slept. She woke up and opened the front door, then he shouted that if she closed the door, he would kick it open. The man stole approximately $570 worth of property belonging to the woman’s boyfriend and was arrested.
Second time around
5:03 p.m. — 2900 block of 53rd Ave. E. Petit Theft. A woman paid for items in the top part of her shopping cart but not the items on the bottom. She is currently on probation for another retail theft arrest.
He got a grilling
6:56 p.m. — 5200 block of University Parkway. Trespass Warning. A man said he was eating at a Japanese-style restaurant that cooks food on a grill in front of customers and bit into a bandage in the food. There were bite marks on the bandage but no signs it had been on a grill. The manager told a deputy reviewed surveillance video and saw the man pick up the bandage from the floor and put it on his plate. He asked that the customer be trespassed. The man agreed to pay and leave.
April 16
WATER FIGHT
3:58 p.m. — 6500 block of Copper Ridge Trail. Information. A woman said her neighbor sprayed her with his hose as she walked by and that they also bumped hands as they walked past each other last week. The man and woman have been neighbors for years and have had multiple disagreements in which they have contacted the sheriff’s office.
