I didn’t see the sign
6:01 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Dog on the Beach. A woman apologized after police told her she was not allowed to have her dog on the beach. She arrived on the beach by boat with a friend and didn’t see the posted sign.
April 10
What’s that sound?
6:48 p.m. — 4200 block of GMD. Assist Other Agency. A caller reported noise coming from the town lift station. Police heard a high-pitched sound coming from inside the building and asked the dispatcher to notify the on-call Public Works employee.
April 12
Give me $120 and no iPhone will get hurt
1:41 p.m. — 4400 block of Exeter Drive. Lost/Missing Property. A man dropped his iPhone at a Bradenton gas station. Two days later, his wife got a call from a woman with a husky voice, who was calling from the missing iPhone. The woman said the man could have the phone back if he paid $120. She wanted to meet that afternoon at Desoto Square Mall. The man tried to track the phone with the iCloud app, but it had been turned off.
April 13
Canine code of conduct
1:48 p.m. — 3700 block of GMD. Dog on the Beach. Police informed a man who had his small dog on the beach without a leash that town ordinances prohibit dogs on the beach and require dogs to be leashed in public places. The man apologized and said he was visiting for the weekend and didn’t know the ordinances.
Silence is golden
4:50 p.m. — Jewfish Key. Disturbance. Two callers complained about loud music coming from a boat anchored near Jewfish Key. The captain received a written warning.
Two timer
9:36 p.m. — New Pass Bridge. Traffic Violation. Police stopped a man for speeding. He gave them a Washington driver’s license, but also had a Georgia license. Police told him it was illegal to have two licenses and confiscated the Georgia license.
April 15
Taking out the trashcan
9:04 a.m. — 5800 block of GMD. Lost/Missing Property. A man placed his trashcan outside for pickup four days ago and hasn’t seen it since.
April 17
Time to turn in
12:32 a.m. — 100 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police warned two people whose vehicle was parked in a town park after hours.
Fire extinguished
2:39 a.m. — 3400 block of Mistletoe Lane. Fire. A broken knob on a gas grill caused an outdoor fire. Firefighters shut off the gas at the meter, allowing the fire to be extinguished.
Now you see it…
1:34 p.m. — 500 block of Jungle Queen Way. Suspicious Vehicle. A reportedly suspicious silver truck with two people inside was gone by the time police arrived.
The blind side
8:23 p.m. — 700 block of Penfield St. Property Damage. A driver in an SUV with Michigan tags turned in front of another motorist, causing the other motorist to hit a mailbox. The Michigan driver told the man she didn’t see him because he was in her blind spot. The man agreed to replace the mailbox.
