Animal-lovers enjoyed interacting with dogs and other animals July 26, as part of the Humane Society of Sarasota County's Fur Fun Camp. Enrolled campers made frozen dog treats to feed the dogs, ate ice cream, played games and had their faces painted.
CAMPER SPOTLIGHT
Sarah Windom, 10 years old
What do you like most about this camp?
I like all the animals and getting to play with them.
What’s your favorite animal?
I like all of them.
I heard you had some llamas come in this week. What other animals have you seen?
We’ve seen a miniature horse, llamas and some therapy dogs.
What was fun about that?
We got to take the llamas over to a wooded area and pet them, and we got to brush the horse.
What have you been doing today?
The ice-cream truck came today. And we got to feed the dogs some treats. They were crushed up dog bones with chicken broth, and they were frozen.
Why was this a camp you wanted to sign up for?
Because I really love animals. They’re sweet and loving, and they can be really nice.
