July 26
Quick fix
12:43 p.m. — 5800 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. A man reported in a series of emails that a neighbor’s water sprinkler was shooting water onto a sidewalk in front of his home, causing pedestrians walking by to step out into the street. The property owner agreed to have a lawn-care professional fix the problem.

July 28
Litter bug
12:21 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Dumping. A man went out into the water from the beach with a lit cigarette and tossed the cigarette into the water. Police told the man it’s legal to smoke on the beach but that he should get a cup or bottle to put the cigarette out in.

July 29
Pot deal
8:27 a.m. — 700 block of St. Judes Drive. Property Damage. A driver struck and broke a woman’s potted plant. The man agreed to pay her $20.

Lights out
10:30 p.m. — 3400 block of GMD. Turtle/Code Violation. A man called police because he worried a group of youths on the beach would disturb a nesting sea turtle his wife was safeguarding. The man’s wife told the youths why flashlights are prohibited on the beach during nesting season, and they agreed to stop using them.

July 30
When push comes to shove
1:37 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Suspicious Circumstance. An anonymous caller said a younger man pushed an elderly male to the ground in the Publix parking lot for unknown reasons. Both men left the area in separate vehicles.

July 31
Basket cases
12:43 a.m. — 3400 block of GMD. Disturbance. After a man and his mother began arguing at a hotel, the mother dumped his belongings from a basket onto the floor. The woman said she picked up the items on the floor and that her son suffers from a mental illness. The man agreed to call a friend to take him home.
