DOG DAYS
10:20 a.m. — 4000 block of South Tamiami Trail. Dispute/Fight. A man and a woman got in an argument at a restaurant about the man’s dog. The man stored his dog behind the restaurant’s front desk inside a carrier, and the woman complained when it started to bark. The man took his dog and put it inside his vehicle, rolling down the windows. The woman then complained to the manager about the man leaving his dog inside his vehicle. The man and the woman started arguing, and the man went out to turn the air conditioning on his car. The man told the woman his car was well ventilated and he wouldn’t be inside the restaurant for long.

MOVING VIOLATION
1:30 p.m. — 1100 block of Myrtle Street. Petit Theft. In the process of moving, a man left some property in his front yard. While he was inside, a marine battery and some pots and pans were taken from the lawn. The man said he gave another person permission to take a mattress off the property and believed that person may have taken the other items, as well.

RETURN POLICY
5:50 p.m. — 2100 block of North Washington Boulevard. Petit Theft — Shoplifting. A man tried to return two packs of batteries to a store without a receipt. The store’s manager checked security camera footage, in which she saw the man take the batteries, put them in his back pocket and walk around the store for a few minutes before walking up to the cashier and attempting to return them. After being confronted about stealing the batteries, the man attempted to give them back.

MOPED, MORE PROBLEMS
2 a.m. — 800 block of North Orange Avenue. Motor Vehicle Theft. A man said his moped had been taken from his driveway between 2 and 8 a.m. The keys were not with the moped, and it had a full tank of gas. No evidence was found at the scene.

August 4
CANDY LAND
3:54 p.m. — 2100 block of North Washington Boulevard. Trespassing. The manager of a store said a woman regularly comes into the shop with her children, allows them to run around and eat candy she does not pay for. The manager said one of the children began chewing gum and the woman wouldn’t pay until confronted, which the manager said has happened on numerous occasions.
