Turtle Watch to excavate nest

Longboat Key Turtle Watch has scheduled an excavation of a turtle nest that recently hatched.


Volunteers will excavate the nest at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Westchester, 4825 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Parking is available at the public beach access at 4795 Gulf of Mexico Drive.


The event will take place rain or shine and will be canceled only in the event of lightning.
