Children excitedly watched as Ashley Kozel cut the ribbon with her daughters, both Out-Of-Door Academy lower school students, Friday, Aug. 23, to the new amphitheater.
“It’s absolutely transformational and it takes us back to our roots in the 1920s,” said Head of School of the Out-Of-Door Academy David Mahler. “It is the crown jewel of the Siesta Key campus. All of the kids have fallen in love with the new Kozel Family Ampitheater.”
Children enjoyed a magic show by Scott Humston and ice cream after the performance.
The Kozel family has generously donated funds in the past to build the playground and wellness center. This summer Out-Of-Door Academy lower school made renovations to classrooms and built a new STEM lab and amphitheater thanks to the Kozel family’s generosity.
The amphitheater seats 250 people and the school plans to eventually build a stage around the banyan tree. Children will use the theater for performances and activities for years to come.
