The 28th Annual Sarasota Christmas Boat Parade of Lights will make its way across Sarasota Bay Saturday, Dec. 14. Each year, thousands of people line the shores to enjoy the sights and sounds of the aquatic holiday parade.

The parade will include 25 boats of all sizes covered in hundreds of colorful Christmas lights. Some boats will play holiday music, while others will have live entertainment on board.

Viewers can enjoy the parade from Bayfront Park, Centennial Park and City Island. The parade starts from City Island, continues under Ringling Bridge and ends at Bayfront Park.

The parade begins around 6 p.m. and lasts for about an hour. If you’re thinking of going, make sure to arrive with plenty of time to find a spot, most people will arrive an hour before.

The Bayfront Park spectator viewing area has been expanded to include the entire northern tip of island near the fountain.

A cash donation from the proceeds of this event will be made to the Suncoast Charities for Children Inc.

The Suncoast Charities for Children is also asking parade viewers to bring infant and toddler
diapers, baby wipes and infant/toddler educational toys for donation.

Donations will be accepted at Marina Jack and the entrance to Bayfront Park.
