The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners presented the Lakewood Ranch High boys golf team with a Proclamation Dec. 17 in honor of their third-consecutive state championship.

This day will now be recognized as Lakewood Ranch High School Pride Day in recognition of the outstanding performance of the team members of the Mustangs golf team.

Lakewood became the first public school in history to win three consecutive state championships in the state of Florida. The Mustangs also set new program records for victories in a season (152) and state tournament total (593), besting its previous mark by one shot.
