The Siesta Key Condo Lighting contest returns Wednesday, Dec. 18.

The contest, which has been taking place for more than 20 years, is a Siesta Key tradition. On Wednesday, six judges will travel from condominium to condominium evaluating displays based on uniqueness, seasonal theme, colorfulness and “wow factor”.

Last year, Siesta Dunes condominium complex defended its title as the category 1 winner. Condominiums are divided into three categories: Category 1 (101 unites or greater); Category 2 (51 to 100 unites) and Category 3 (50 or fewer units).

With 21 entries, four more than last year, the competition has made Siesta Key light up with holiday spirit. For public viewing, the greatest density of lights visible are from 5600 to 8700 Midnight Pass Road. There are also lights visible to the public along Ocean Boulevard and through Siesta Village.
