+ Citrus Square is good example
Dear Editor:

Congratulations on your Feb. 14 issue of the Sarasota Observer, packed with a bunch of useful information as Sarasota experiences a “changing of the guard.”

Especially interesting is your interview with Ernie Ritz, who is among the many fans of Citrus Square. It’s worth mentioning last year Citrus Square was named as the best mixed-use development in the entire United States. If memory serves, the “guilty” parties, Jonathan Parks and Chris Gallagher, had to fly to the Big Apple to accept the award.

+ The sounds of business
Dear Editor:

I’m writing in response to Rodney Linford’s letter (“A call for action,” Pelican Press, Feb. 14). Living downtown, or in this case, near the Village, is a practical way to shrink our carbon footprint on the planet while offering an array of personal conveniences. As with any high-density area that continues to thrive after the sun goes down, music is an integral ingredient to the vibrancy and vitality of Siesta Key Village. Blasé Café (and other bars) offers employment to people in the food-service industry, as well as local musicians. Before condemning a local merchant for “failing to respect its neighbors,” I would urge you to consider the fact that they have a business to run. The sounds of an emergent and lively area should be a consideration for anyone who contemplates living in such close proximity.

+ Applause to editorials
Dear Editor:

Congratulations on your recent editorial regarding the Bengazi situation. Actually, I have to applaud many of your editorials. And allow me to add, “Thank you.”

Thomas Jefferson once wrote that a country with one newspaper was worse than one with none. You have proven that postulate to be right on the mark. In a country where Democrats and liberals wield so much power, it is, indeed, a hope for the future when people like you stand up and present the other side of the issues. It takes great courage.

Please know that I am but one of many who appreciate your efforts and wish you much success.
