Feb. 15
Full of hot air
7:48 a.m. — Gulf of Mexico Drive and Gulf Bay Road. Dumping. An anonymous caller complained that landscaping employees were dumping gas on the road. Police found the employees rinsing their mower with a garden hose but didn’t see fuel on the ground or any other evidence of violations.

Feb. 17
Signs of election
3:54 p.m. — 600 block of Cedar St. Larceny. A commission candidate reported that two campaign signs were stolen and another two were pulled out of the ground. The signs belonged to him and a candidate for a different seat.

Cold case
4:30 p.m. — 6100 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. The same commission candidate who called police 36 minutes prior called police because two more of his signs were pulled out of the ground. There were still no suspects.

Feb. 18
Suspicious snowbirds
2:10 p.m. — 500 block of Shinbone Alley. Suspicious Vehicle. A pool cleaner called police because a gray BMW sport-utility vehicle with an Ontario plate had been parked under a palm tree for three weeks. A neighbor said that the SUV belongs to an elderly couple who parks there and fishes along the seawall every day. The neighbor said the car has never been there for an extended period of time.

Feb. 19
Signing out
6:25 p.m. — 7000 block of GMD. Larceny. A resident reported that someone took six campaign signs for two sitting commissioners. Police agreed to monitor the signs.

Feb. 20
Barking back
3:18 p.m. — 600 block of De Narvaez Drive. Animal. A man called police about two barking dogs in a fenced yard. Police didn’t hear the dogs bark at first, but the dogs starting barking when they saw police. Police couldn’t locate the owner or read the tag number of the car parked behind the home’s electric gate.
