Beach project inches ahead

Sixteen firms have downloaded the advertisement for construction management services (CMS) of the Siesta Key public beach project, which has a Jan. 31 deadline for proposals.

Sarasota County staff will rank the firms based on their proposed approaches for the $21.5 million project, their experience and ability.

Depending on the status of the design, county staff may only contract CMS for the construction phase of the project, which is expected to take 27 months and begin after Nov. 1, according to the advertisement.
