Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight tomorrow will present to county commissioners a study from Architects Design Group, a national agency specializing in design of police, emergency operations and 911 center facilities. The report presents a new public safety complex ranging in price from $60 million to $73 million, according to estimates from Architects Design Group.

The Architects Design Group report concluded that the agency needs roughly double its current 140,000-square-foot facility space to support law enforcement.

The proposed complex would house the sheriff’s main office, forensics, fleet maintenance and training operations, according to the report.

The report outlines possible funding sources, which include a voter referendum, Federal Emergency Management Agency grants and impact fees.
