The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. 

Jan. 19
Do not enter
11 p.m. — 7100 block of County Rode 675.
Trespass Warning. Two juveniles entered a gated property under construction. The property was not listed as a construction site. A deputy warned the juveniles not to return.

Jan. 20
Men in black
4:36 p.m. — 4900 block of Newport News Circle. 
Burglary. A complainant called the sheriff’s office to report two people dressed in black, who were checking door handles. When the deputy arrived at the scene, he saw a person running between two houses. The deputy lost sight of the person, but had a K-9 in route and set up a perimeter. The deputy found a discarded computer monitor, which the computer’s owner said had been taken from his unlocked vehicle, along with a $200 computer projector.

Phoning it in
4:53 p.m. — 4900 block of Newport News Circle. Burglary. A woman reported that unknown person(s) entered her unlocked vehicle, rummaged through it and removed a black iPhone 4 from the center console. No force was used to gain entry. Any connection to the above report on the same street is unknown.

Good Samaritan
7:31 p.m. — 14400 block of State Road 70 E. Lost Property. A man parked his motorcycle outside of a store. When he returned home, he noticed his wallet was missing. He returned to the store and searched the parking lot. A store employee said a juvenile found the wallet and brought it inside the store. The man reported items missing from the wallet. Video did not show the juvenile taking anything from the wallet.

Jan. 21
You snooze, you lose
6:50 p.m. — 11600 block of Third Avenue E.
Petit Theft. A deputy responded to a larceny complaint. The victim said his keys were stolen Jan. 11, while he was napping. The victim’s family found several items missing during the last several weeks, including items stolen from the trunk of the victim’s mother’s car (see below).

Junk in the trunk
6:55 p.m.­ — 11600 block of Third Avenue E. Unarmed Burglary. Unknown person(s) used a key to access the trunk of a woman’s vehicle while it was parked in her driveway. The key may have been stolen from the woman’s son.

Jan. 23
Stopped in their tracks
8:04 a.m. — 8800 block of Haven Harbour Way.
Unarmed Burglary. Juveniles stole items from a woman’s vehicle. A deputy arrested the juveniles before they were able to exit the subdivision.

Jan. 24
Lonely bike
1:22 p.m. — 3500 block of Broadway Avenue
. Lost property. While on routine patrol, a deputy spotted a bike on the edge of a field. The deputy scanned the area and could not find the bike’s owner. The bike, which had two flat tires, was not listed as stolen. It was transported to evidence for safekeeping.

Where’s the beef?
3:56 p.m. — 6200 block of State Road 74 E. Shoplifting. A suspect entered a department store, ordered meat from the deli, and left the store without paying. Once outside the store, the suspect was confronted by store loss prevention. The suspect dropped the meat and fled. The store’s loss-prevention specialist gave photographs of the suspect to the deputy, but the beef bandit has not been found.

No makeup
4:08 p.m. — 8300 block of Shade Avenue. Property found. Two prescription bottles and a cosmetic bag containing makeup were found. A deputy confirmed the owner’s identity by contacting a pharmacy and prescription number listed on the medication. The deputy later discovered that the same items were stolen in an earlier incident.
