The two Sarasota police cars and a Sarasota County Fire Department truck parked near U.S. 41 Sunday, July 7, were there to save one lucky duckling.

Emergency personnel responded to reports around noon of a duckling that had fallen down a storm drain while its family crossed the busy intersection near Wisteria Avenue. Soon workers had the feathered fowl in their hands.

Traffic was not stopped during the rescue.
