New College of Florida received high marks from the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2014, Colleges of Distinction and BestColleges.com, publications that advise students and families on the best college choices.

Fiske Guide named New College as a “Best Buy” college, one of 41 in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske founded Fiske Guide, which is in its 30th year. The review praised New College as a “fast-rising star,” with “very intense” academics but in a non-competitive atmosphere. Fiske “Best Buy” colleges all are in the top-four or top-five academic ratings and have moderate to low tuition.

Colleges of Distinction said New College has a distinctive academic program with high standards, which makes it a choice for students who can manage freedom and the responsibility to manage their own education.

BestColleges.com named New College as one of its 27 “Best Colleges for Non-Traditional Students.”

This same list included Brown University, Beloit College and Goucher College.
