If you are looking for an exciting weekend best bet, this is your least-stuffy option: the Sarasota Improv Festival. It’s two days of fly-by-the-seat-of-their pants improvisational live theater; which means the plot, scene, characters or dialogue are all created on the spot (one troupe, The Improvised Shakespeare Company, does it in an Elizabethan style).

And some of the biggest and best Improv troupes from around the country are visiting for this weekend-long event: Smith & I from Chicago, Dad’s Garage from Atlanta, and Available Cupholders from Austin, to name a few. And, of course, local and beloved favorites FST Improv, Vintage Whine and Lazy Fairy Improv are also on the ticket.

Last year’s fest was full of fun, laughter, audience participation and the “you just had to be there” type of memories that you’ll want to experience for yourself this year.
