Campers rolled up their sleeves and got messy Tuesday for Sarasota County’s Dirty Jobs Camp at Twin Lakes Park. As part of the camp, children participated in various dirty jobs, including landscaping, horticulture and composting. Tuesday’s portion of the camp focused on the role worms play in the composting process.

CAMPER SPOTLIGHT
Weston Tranden, first-time camper
What are you doing today?
We’re separating worm castings from worms to make a new bed.
What have you been finding?
I’ve been finding a whole bunch of mature worms, and not that many baby worms.
What’s your favorite part about camp so far?
So far, it’s been being with my friend, who is next to me at the table. We both signed up for this camp so we could be together during the summer.
