It may only be July, but members of the Siesta Key Village Association are already preparing for Christmas events.

Association members met Monday, July 15, for their first Light Up the Village meeting. Businesses on the Key collaborate to host the annual Christmas parade, which takes place Nov. 30.

During the first meeting, board members assigned attendees to various committees to take on tasks including marketing, light-up and entertainment, luminary, sign, gazebo, parade and parking lot responsibilities.

Major tasks include hiring a Santa; ordering an 8 foot by 12 foot stage; supplying 300 wrapped gifts for Santa; planning the parade route; and acquiring sponsors.

Members will host their next meeting Aug. 5.
