The Manatee County School Board will discuss its 2013-14 budget tonight during a special meeting.

Tonight’s meeting precedes a July 29 public hearing on the budget, at which time the board will be asked to approve a 7.572 millage rate, which is lower than the current millage of 7.589.

At the July 29 meeting, the public can comment on the $564.89 million 2013-14 preliminary budget.

That figure is more than the 2012-13 $555.7 million budget.

The revenue increase reflects a 4% rise in county property values.
