July 15
Bad tipster
8:58 p.m. — 5300 block of GMD. Assist Other Agency. Dispatch received a call from another county’s tip line about a man who was employed at a restaurant who had a felony warrant. The restaurant manager said the person wasn’t employed there. Police couldn’t find anyone who matched the description.

July 20
Anchor’s not aweigh
7:58 a.m. — Off the Key. Boat. Police responded to a report of a boat that was possibly unoccupied and adrift in Sarasota Bay, but discovered the boat was actually anchored. The boat’s owner said his daughter anchored the boat and stayed at a friend’s house overnight.

July 21
Noisy neighbors
1:42 a.m. — 500 block of Golf Links Lane. Disturbance. Police told the residents of a home about complaints of a loud party. They agreed to keep it down.

Dry run
8:49 p.m. — 4000 block of GMD. Disturbance. A man told police someone took a towel he had left on his vehicle, then he ran across the street to confront a man on the beach who told police he had taken the towel and returned it to the man. The towel owner said he had three more miles to run and didn’t want to file a complaint.

July 22
What’s the damage?
12:56 p.m. — 5000 block of GMD. Property Damage. A woman found her vehicle damaged when she went out for lunch. Her boss told her that a contractor working on-site had apparently backed into it. The worker’s company agreed to pay for the damage.

July 23
Dishonorable discharge
9:52 a.m. — 400 block of North Shore Road. Vandalism. A property caretaker reported that someone took two fire extinguishers and discharged them. He also reported a water hose being used and trash being left behind.

Message in a bottle
10:32 a.m. — 5500 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman turned in a small glass bottle with a note inside that she found while cleaning the mangrove area at Joan M. Durante Park. Police found two sheets of paper with writing on them but couldn’t read the words because water had gotten on them.
