+ Mustangs to host baseball camp
Lakewood Ranch High will host its Mustang Summer Baseball Camps from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 17-21; June 24-28; July 22-26; and July 29 through Aug. 2, at the Lakewood Ranch High baseball field.
Camps are open to children ages 5-12 at a cost of $125.
Participants will learn fundamentals baseball, including hitting, fielding, pitching and base running, among others.
All participants should wear baseball pants and caps and are asked to bring a glove, bat, helmet, cleats, batting gloves, tennis shoes and a lunch.
The concession stand will be open for snacks and drinks. Lunch will be offered for $4.

+ Team Khaos wins baseball showcase
Team Khaos, of Lakewood Ranch, recently won the Nations Baseball Select State Tournament, at Braden River Little League Park.
The team outscored its opponents 31-4 in bracket play. Billy Wilds and Brady Jernigan combined for three hits, two runs and two errors to lead Team Khaos past the West Coast Warriors 4-2 in the championship game. Danny Torrealba hit a home run — the first in the team’s short history — to lead the way for Team Khaos at the plate.
Championship players include: Billy Wilds, Zach Fefimore, Alex Eastmond, Sam Phillips, Brady Jernigan, Hunter Bell, Jacob Danowski, Nick Romagnola, Danny Torrealba and Dalton Roby.
+ Ranch kicker earns top honors
Lakewood Ranch High rising sophomore kicker Kyle Thoma finished first in punting for the class of 2016, at the Kornblue Kicking Challenge June 1, at Florida International University.
Thoma also finished second in kicking, which combined kickoffs and field goals.
In April, Thoma attended the Ray Guy kicking camp at Manatee High, where he connected on a new personal best 55-yard field goal.
Thoma currently is ranked in the top 20 for punting and the top 30 for kicking for the Class of 2016, according to prokicker.com.
