Police investigate Gillespie Avenue shooting

The Sarasota Police Department is interviewing an unidentified person suspected of being involved in a shooting that occured at roughly 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 19.

The Sarasota Police Department is interviewing an unidentified person suspected of being involved in a shooting that occured at roughly 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at  2919 Gillespie Avenue.

Police responded to the address after hearing gunshots, and discovered a 16-year-old boy had been shot in the wrist. The boy was uncooperative, according to a news release.

Detectives stopped a green Toyota Camry that had fresh bullet holes, and detained the driver for questioning shortly after the incident. Police also found bullet holes in another vehicle and a duplex at the site of the shooting.
