Feb. 28
Dog caught; owner on the loose
8:23 a.m. — 4100 block of GMD.
Dog Found. Police found a loose dog but couldn’t find its owner, who wasn’t home. Another resident agreed to watch the dog until the owner returned.

March 2
It’s in the mail
10:25 a.m. — 3000 block of Grand Bay Blvd.
Assist Other Agency. A woman lost a small pink cosmetic bag with her driver’s license, credit cards and AARP card. She called police before they finished the report to say someone had found it and mailed it to her.

March 3
Who’s calling?
6:45 a.m. — 100 Sands Point Road.
Abandoned 911 Call. Police entered a condo after receiving a 911 call from the residence. They left a business card after discovering it was apparently unoccupied.

Surf’s up
3:56 p.m. — Off the Key. Boat. Police helped rescue a windsurfer trapped by winds and waves that were 3 feet to 5 feet high and transported him back to land.

March 4
Scam alert
10:29 a.m. — 4000 block of GMD
. Public Service. A man received a letter from a company called Annual Minutes Requirements for Florida Corporations and found the Better Business Bureau lists a scam from a company by the same name. Police agreed to write a report and forward it for intel purposes.

Cover-up operation
9:21 p.m. — 100 block of GMD.
Suspicious Vehicle. Police shined a light on a parked vehicle and saw a 27-year-old man sit up and start getting dressed. A woman, 48, was sitting next to him. The man said they were “just talking.” Police told them not to have their discussion in a public area.

Get a room
7:59 p.m. — 2600 block of GMD. Trespassing. A timeshare resort clerk reported an owner took a key from a lockbox for a room he doesn’t own. Renters arrived to find the bed had been slept in and that someone’s property was in the room. The clerk believed the property, which consisted of papers and snack food, belonged to an owner’s grandson, who used a rope to climb up a unit and break through the sliding-glass door two weeks earlier.

March 5
Scenic alternative
5:58 p.m. — 7000 block of Sea Breeze Ave
. A man who was sitting on his motor scooter outside an unoccupied home told police he had been at the home before to watch the sunset, which was why he returned. Police told him to watch the sunset from public beach accesses.

Watchful eye
8:05 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Property Found. A firefighter turned in a silver watch he found in the station’s workout room.

March 6
Give me a brake
12:59 p.m. — Gulf of Mexico Drive and Bay Isles Parkway.
Battery. A 21-year-old man said the 62-year-old driver in front of him purposely braked, causing him to crash, and then pushed and shoved him when they got out of their cars. The 62-year-old driver said the 21-year-old man was following him so closely he couldn’t see the bumper from his rear-view window and made a hand gesture to his wife after she motioned for him to back away. The 62-year-old driver said the crash occurred when he braked for a light and the 21-year-old man failed to stop, but he admitted to shoving the 21-year-old man a couple of times because he was angry. The 21-year-old man told police he wants the 62-year-old driver prosecuted.

Dog with a job to do
5:24 p.m. — 100 block of Broadway. Dog on the Beach. A caller reported that a woman was on the beach with her dog. Police verified that it was a service dog.
