Sarasota Film Festival announces 2013 lineup

Tom Hall announced Sarasota Film Festival’s 15th season lineup announcement Wednesday, March 13 at The Sponsor and Press Kick Off Party at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.

This year’s festival from April 5 through April 14 will showcase 104 feature films and 120 short films — including youthFEST shorts.

"Blackfish," a film about Tilikum the orca whale that killed its SeaWorld Trainer will open the festival. Its world premiere was this past Jan. 19 at Sundance Film Festival. It's directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite

“Frances Ha,” a black and white comedy about a woman looking for an unknown something in The Big Apple, under the direction of Noah Noah Baumbach will close the festival.

“The Spectacular Now” and “Running From Crazy” will centerpiece the festival.

“The Spectacular Now” centers around a high school young love, and director James Ponsoldt will be in attendance.

“Running From Crazy” directed by Barbara Kopple is a portrait of Mariel Hemingway and she and her family’s battles with mental illness. Mariel Hemingway will be in attendance. Stay tuned to YourObserver.com for more updates on Sarasota Film Festival.
