+ Thunder walk off with win
The Out-of-Door Academy baseball team scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a bases-loaded walk to defeat Lakewood Ranch 5-4 March 14.
Sophomore Tyler Dietrich hit a triple to lead off the bottom half of the inning. Jake Romine, who had hit a two-run triple earlier in the game, drew a walk to score the winning run.
Austin Hoppe earned the win on the mound for the Thunder, allowing two runs on six hits.
+ SCS baseball perfect
The Sarasota Christian baseball team improved to 11-0 with a 4-3 victory over Pennsylvania’s Owen J. Roberts March 14.
Pitcher Taylor Briggs struck out three in four innings and also went 2-for-4 at the plate.
+ Orioles to host clinic
The Baltimore Orioles will host a youth clinic at 2 p.m. April 13, at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota.
The clinic will be open to pre-selected Sarasota County youth, ages 8 to 14. Fifty boys and girls will be randomly selected to receive instruction in throwing, hitting, fielding and base running from Orioles minor league players and instructors.
Those interested must complete an application form, which is now available at Ed Smith Stadium or online at orioles.com/sarasota under the community calendar. Completed forms should be sent to Ed Smith Stadium, Attn: April 13 Clinic, 2700 12th St., Sarasota, Fla., 34237.
Forms must be submitted by March 30. Those selected will be notified by April 5.
+ Tennis finale upcoming
The grand finale of the $25,000 Totally Tennis Exhibition Series will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 7, at the Payne Park Tennis Center.
Former Top 100 ATP players Hugo Armando and Attila Savolt will be competing for Sarasota’s No. 1 singles title.

ODA girls tennis
The Out-of-Door Academy improved to 7-0 with a 5-2 victory over St. Stephen’s March 14.
Caroline Dailey (No. 1), M’Balia Bangoura (No. 2), Alana Sherman (No. 4) and Cheyenne Kerekes (No. 5) all recorded singles victories for the Lady Thunder. Dailey and Bangoura also were victorious at No. 1 doubles.
