Bang-up job
12:14 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Vandalism. A man parked his rental car in a hotel parking lot and discovered large dents on both sides of the vehicle. The dents appeared to be too high up to have been caused by another vehicle’s door. The man didn’t know of anyone who would intentionally damage the vehicle.
March 14
Door damage
2:11 p.m. — 2400 block of GMD. Property Damage. A condo manager showed police scratches he discovered on the inside of two elevator doors. One scratch ran nearly the entire length of the door, and the other scratch was smaller. The manager didn’t know if the damage was intentional.

Did you drop something?
10:45 a.m. — 2000 block of GMD. Property Found. A man turned in a black iPad he found in the bushes of the condominium property to a security guard. Police found the owner’s information and left a voicemail.
March 16
Hit or miss?
9:51 a.m. — Gulf of Mexico Drive and Jungle Queen Way. Traffic Violation. A caller reported that a landscaping truck driver might have knocked over a barricade while trying to turn the vehicle around at a dead end. Other witnesses said he was careful when turning around and didn’t hit anything. Police gave the driver a citation for not having a valid license.

There’s nothing to see here
8:56 a.m. — 400 block of L’Ambiance Drive. Abandoned 911 Call. A condominium employee opened the door to a unit for police, who were investigating an abandoned 911 call. No one was home, and police found no signs of trouble.
March 19
Special delivery
12:53 a.m. — 500 block of Cutter Lane. Domestic Disturbance. A man said his girlfriend slapped him after they got into an argument while celebrating her birthday. The taxi driver who brought them home said the couple argued in the car, but the dispute didn’t turn physical. The woman said she didn’t slap her boyfriend but that she did shove him. She explained that she called 911, but meant to call 411 to order a pizza. Police delivered the woman to her friend’s house.

Rescue call
12:10 a.m. — 4300 block of GMD. Welfare Check. A woman called police because she had tried to call her 87-year-old father and hadn’t gotten an answer. Police found the man lying on his bathroom floor. Firefighters confirmed he wasn’t injured and lifted him off the floor.

12:01 p.m. — 6400 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. Police confirmed a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home that was abandoned because of a fire was registered to a Longboat resident.

A key detail
12:56 p.m. — 2000 block of GMD. Lost/Missing Property. A woman’s beach bag that contained her purse disappeared. Her husband said they canceled their credit card but wanted police to be aware because a key was also inside the bag.
