Higher learning
8:55 a.m. — 16000 block of Upper Manatee River Road. Information Only. Four high school students were caught smoking marijuana using a plastic bottle and aluminum foil on a camping trip with a school club. The students’ parents picked them up from the camping grounds. All four students were suspended for four days, with six days of in-school suspension. Police destroyed the plastic bottle and aluminum foil.

Pill-fering plumber?
6:09 p.m. — 2400 block of 42nd Street E. Theft. A woman reported her medications were stolen. The woman alleged her plumber stole the medication. The plumber was working at the home at the time of the theft. The woman had taken her medication prior to the plumber’s arrival and then fell asleep. The woman said she did not see the plumber steal the medicine, and it did not appear anyone had sorted through her belongings. The woman said she looked thoroughly for the medications but could not find them.

Pipe problems
9:58 a.m. — 400 block of Cypress Creek Boulevard. Property Found. A man called the police to say he found a pipe made from plastic bottles at a park.

Special delivery
2:35 p.m. — 5800 block of Carriage Drive. Criminal Mischief. An unknown person(s) struck and damaged a man’s mailbox with an object, causing $100 worth of damage.

Rambling man
3:33 p.m. — 800 block of Kay Road NE. Information Only. A woman reported she was at a pool in a park when a man made derogatory comments about the park’s manager. The man told the woman the park manager would be gone soon. When she asked him about that statement, the man said he “had his gun cocked.” The woman said the man made no direct threats to anyone. The man is being evicted from his home.

Cash or check?
4:28 p.m. — 2900 block of 53rd Avenue E. Fraud. A man attempted to cash a stolen check worth $3,710 at a bank. The bank’s manager contacted the sheriff’s office. Deputies spoke to the suspect on scene. The man said he didn’t know the check was forged. The suspect was released. Then, after review of another sheriff’s office case, deputies determined the suspect knew or should have known the check was forged. Deputies applied for a request to arrest the man.

Stolen moments
8:21 p.m. — 7300 block of Black Walnut Way. Theft. A man met a girl at a club, and the duo went back to the man’s home for the evening. When the man awoke, he discovered his father’s car, which he had borrowed, was missing. A $300 gift card to a pharmacy was also missing, along with $200 cash.

May 9
Screen siren
12:09 a.m. — 26000 block of 81st Drive E. Burglary. An unknown person(s) removed the screen to one of two windows leading to the dining room of a home. The person(s) tried to open the window, which was already partially open, but window locks on the frame prevented it from opening. The person(s) then placed the screen on backward and fled in an unknown direction.
