Girls in Girl Scouts Junior Troop 181, at Freedom Elementary School, recently earned their Bronze Award by researching and planting the back of the school’s courtyard.

To earn the award, the girls had to decide on a community service project, plan it out and implement it. The girls, who attend Freedom Elementary, planted sod, ginger, blue iris, white iris, red ixora and red vinca — all plants they researched to ensure they would grow well in the years to come.
