Lakewood wins academic championship

Lakewood Ranch High was named the Florida High School Athletic Association’s Class 6A Academic Team Champion for the 2012-13 school year.

The Mustangs scored 140 points to finish ahead of Fort Myers (118).

Lakewood’s boys track and weightlifting teams also captured spring academic team championships.

The Riverview High girls track team won the Class 8A ATC and Braden River softball team won the Class 7A ATC. Riverview finished second overall in Class 8A behind Tarpon Springs East Lake with 110 points.
