+ Coastline volleyball earns national bid
The Coastline 14 Rox Black volleyball team recently earned a national bid to the USA Volleyball Girls Junior Nationals.

The team earned a national bid after placing second out of 57 teams at the 2013 USAV Florida Regional Qualifier April 27 and April 28, in Orlando.

With the bid, the girls will compete in the USA Volleyball Girls Junior Nationals June 28 through July 5, in Dallas.

Players include:
Allison Allmer, Emma Boughner, Andrea McDonald, Madison McNally, Rachel Meringer, Samantha Norden, Grace Pfeil, Margo Schnapf, Annie Shaw and Kahlee York.

+ Mooney LAX players named All-Americans
Cardinal Mooney High lacrosse senior goalkeeper Victoria Krupa was named to the 2013 US Lacrosse Girls High School All-American first team May 8.

Krupa was one of 17 players from across Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Central Texas to be named a first-team All-American.

Sophomore Bridget Walsh and senior Haley McCurdy received honorable mention. Seniors Nina Bracciano, Kelly Nicholson, Lauren Telford, Krupa and McCurdy all were named to the All-Academic team.

Sarasota Christian baseball
The Sarasota Christian baseball team held off St. Petersburg Canterbury 6-5 in a Class 2A-Region 2 semifinal May 7.

Shane Shifflett went 3-3 with two doubles, a triple, an intentional walk, three RBIs and a run scored to lead the way for Sarasota Christian at the plate. Joseph Shamp went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Senior Taylor Briggs came on in relief to close out the game.

With the win, Sarasota Christian advanced to the 2A-2 finals May 10, where they fell to Master’s Academy of Vero Beach 4-3.

The Blazers finished the season with a 28-2 record.
