May 5
Camp Longboat
7:49 a.m. — 100 block of N. Shore Road.
Camping. Police found four teens camping in tents on Beer Can Island and called their parents. The teens removed their tents and other belongings before leaving the area.

May 17
Thanks for the memories
2:50 a.m. — 1600 block of GMD.
Suspicious Vehicle. A woman who was driving through the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort said she remembered coming there and was just driving through the property.

Tag troubles
8:09 a.m. — 500 block of Broadway. Traffic Violation. Police stopped the driver of a vehicle with no tag. The driver said the tag was stolen a few days ago and that his license was suspended. His truck registration was also expired. Police gave him a citation for driving with a suspended license and warnings for the other violations.

Unlicensed drivers
4:20 p.m. — 6000 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. Police arrested both drivers of a truck/trailer combination after discovering both drivers had suspended licenses.

Make it a double violation
4:45 p.m. — 100 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police found two people near park picnic benches with open alcohol containers and a white dog with no leash. Both people received written warnings.

Custody dispute
7:18 p.m. — 1900 block of Harbourside Drive. Abandoned 911 Call. Police responded to an abandoned 911 call and found a woman crying on the porch of the unit from which the call was placed. The woman said she received emails from her ex-husband asking for their children’s passports. She said her ex has custody of the children, who live out-of-state, and she wanted police to do something about their dispute. Police told her they could not help her with her out-of-state issues.

May 18
Vehicle vandalism
9:22 a.m. — 700 block of Fox St.
Vandalism. A man said someone cut the valve stems on his vehicle.

Up a bay with no paddle?
12:12 p.m. — 600 block of Sutton Place. Property Found. While boating in the bay, a man found a pair of wooden oars floating in the water.

Sweepstakes scam
5:38 p.m. — 600 block of Buttonwood Drive. A woman got a call from a man who said he was from Publishers Clearing House and that she had won a Walmart gift card. Another person convinced the woman to give them her credit card number. When she realized what she had done, she contacted her bank immediately to cancel the card.

A love that’s on the rocks
8:18 p.m. — 500 block of Ranger Lane. Larceny. Someone stole a decorative landscaping rock engraved with the word “love.”

May 19
Make some noise
1:13 a.m. — 1200 block of GMD.
Suspicious Circumstance. Police stopped a car that was pulling out of a park area at the same time they heard the alarm of a restaurant nearby. The driver and his passenger said they heard it going off the whole time they were in the park.

May 20
Camp rules
8:01 a.m. — 100 block of N. Shore Road.
Camping. Two females admitted they were part of a group that was camping on Beer Can Island. Police found five campers; one was lying in a hammock tied between trees and another was pounding out sand on a blanket. Police warned the campers about town ordinances that prohibit being on the beach before 5 a.m. and camping.

No cause for complaint
1:34 p.m. — 700 block of Tarawitt Drive. Parking. A man complained that his neighbor has illegally parked vehicles in his driveway. Police determined none of the four vehicles parked there was in violation of ordinances.

Down in the dumps
3:10 p.m. — 6900 block of Palm Drive. Dumping. A woman flagged down police to report the driver of a truck with a tractor-trailer attached illegally dumped construction debris. The woman called a few minutes later to report more dumping and the name of the company on the truck. The owner of the company told police he was ashamed of the incident and would determine who was responsible.
