Man stabbed with ice pick during parking scuffle

When Sarasota Police arrived at the scene of an alleged stabbing Saturday, Nov. 2, they found Joseph Wild at the middle of the Siesta Key north bridge bleeding badly.

Officers arrested 55-year-old David Christner near the scene after Wild described a fight over parking that turned brutal when Christner stabbed Wild with an ice pick. The men argued about a parking spot on the east side of the bridge prior to fishing.

Wild managed to get the attention of the bridge tender prior to collapsing before 9 p.m. Emergency personnel rushed Wild to Blake Medical Center, where he required surgery and a blood transfusion, according to a probable cause affadavit.

Police have charged Christner with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
