An iconic Siesta Key Village breakfast joint and regular hangout of Hall of Fame ESPN basketball analyst Dick Vitale shuttered its doors this week.

The Broken Egg owner Bob Kirscher sold the Siesta Key and Lakewood Ranch locations of the restaurant to Destin, Fl.-based Another Broken Egg of America Inc., and the Clark Road location to longtime Managing Partner Dawn Hair. The Broken Egg on Clark Road will continue to operate with the same menu, Hair said in a Nov. 6 interview with the Sarasota Observer.

"We're are running everything as normal at the Broken Egg," Hair said. "It can only get better"

Another Broken Egg has closed the Siesta Key location for renovations. The last day of service was Tuesday, Nov. 5. The company will continue operations as normal at the Lakewood Ranch restaurant, but could change the menu later this month, Hair said.

Kirscher moved the Siesta Broken Egg from a spot on Avenida Madera to Columbus Boulevard while remaining in the Village in 2008.

"We're going to keep Bob on at $7.75-per-hour as a dishwasher," Hair joked.
