Gov. Rick Scott announced on Monday the appointment of Erika Quartermaine to the Sarasota County Court.

Quartermaine, 35, of Sarasota, has been an assistant state attorney in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit since 2009. From 2007-2009, she served as court counsel to the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court, and from 2003-2006 she practiced law with the Berman Law Firm. She is a member of the board of directors of Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center.

Quartermaine received her bachelor’s degree from Stetson University and her law degree from the University of Miami. She steps into a vacancy on the Sarasota Court left by the appointment of Judge Kimberly Bonner to the Circuit Court.

“During her service as an Assistant State Attorney, Erika has proven her dedication to the law and the families of our State,” Scott said in a prepared statement. “She has demonstrated a keen appreciation and respect for the rule of law. She is going to be a strong addition to the Sarasota County bench.”
