9:45 p.m. — 500 block of Spinnaker Lane. Welfare Check. A woman asked police to check on her 93-year-old mother whom she had been trying to call. Her mother greeted police after they entered her home through the garage. When police said the woman’s daughter had been trying to call earlier, the mother realized her house phone’s battery was dead.
Nov. 14
Time to move on
5:25 p.m. — 3800 block of GMD. Civil Disturbance. A man let his girlfriend move in with him while she had her home fumigated. The couple began fighting while she was away visiting her family, and the man told her he wants to end their relationship. The woman said it was her home, too, and that she would destroy him and his property if he touched her belongings. Police directed him to the Sarasota Clerk of the Courts for eviction and restraining order paperwork.

Party house
8:30 p.m. — 600 block of Dream Island Road. Noise. The owner of a house that’s been the subject of prior noise complaints said she would keep the music down and bring guests inside by 10 p.m.
Nov. 17
‘I do’ not have permission
5:04 a.m. — 100 block of GMD. Public Service. A man and woman got a golf cart they were driving stuck on a sidewalk. They said they were staying at the Resort at Longboat Key Club for a wedding and admitted they didn’t have permission to take the cart. The resort’s manager didn’t pursue criminal charges, and the man and woman returned to their room.
Arresting development
8:54 a.m. — 2300 block of Harbour Oaks Drive. Civil Disturbance. A woman paid an $80 deposit to a man to upholster four chairs last month, then discovered his business had closed. The man’s business partner and roommate said he’s in jail. After police called him, the man returned the $80 and chairs.
Colony violation: weed/grass
5:10 p.m. — 1600 block of GMD. Narcotics Violation. Police arrested a man sitting out by the pool of the shuttered Colony Beach & Tennis Resort for misdemeanor marijuana possession.
Nov. 19
Raccoon rehab
7:39 a.m. — 600 block of De Narvaez Drive. Animal. A man brought a raccoon onto his porch because it was limping. Police told him the raccoon only appeared to have minor injuries and there are no rehab facilities for raccoons. The man agreed it would be best to release the animal.
