Obituary: Peter Voorhees

Peter Voorhees, 67, of Longboat Key, died Nov. 22, after a battle with melanoma.

He married his wife, Pam, in a surprise wedding on his 50th birthday and also loved his family, friends, home on Longboat Key and cabin on Hunt Lake in upstate New York, boating, The Albany Academy gang, entertaining, photography and practical jokes.

Mr. Voorhees is remembered for his enjoyment of life to the fullest and sense of humor. He appreciated antique cars, fine art, music and golf.

Mr. Voorhees is survived by his wife, Pam; sisters, Martha Blackman, of Delmar, N.Y., and Carol Voorhees, of Niskayuna, N.Y.

A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mr. Vorhees’ honor to The Albany Academies, 135 Academy Road, Albany, N.Y., 12208; reference the Ernie Steck Scholarship Fund.
