The Cardinal Mooney High football team rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 14-12 victory over St. Pete Catholic Oct. 11.
The Cougars took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 4-yard run by Demardre Patterson.
St. Pete Catholic responded with a pair of second-quarter touchdowns to take a 12-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Cardinal Mooney regained the lead in the third quarter when quarterback Reese Vita connected with Austin Leach for a 19-yard touchdown.
Vita completed 9-of-10 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown. Leach hauled in five catches for 69 yards. Patterson finished with 70 yards on 15 carries.
Cardinal Mooney returns to district action Oct. 18 versus rival ODA.
