The city of Sarasota has completed part of the $1.8 million Main Street improvement project with a new brick sidewalk west of Five Points Park.
Main Street from Mira Mar Court to the park reopened over the weekend. The project is aimed at improving the walkability of portions of downtown Sarasota through enhanced crosswalks, widened sidewalks and brick pavers throughout the area.
Concurrently, the city continues construction along U.S. 301 from Mound Street three miles north to Myrtle Street as part of an $842,000 landscape-improvement project. Crews will be adding brick pavers to medians and adding to flora as part of the project, which should be completed in December, according to a city news release.
