+ Cyclists should make themselves plainly visible
Dear Editor:
Cyclists riding along Gulf of Mexico Drive who wear bright-colored shirts are plainly visible. If you are wearing dark colors and do not have a blinking taillight, you are endangering your own life as well as being a liability to drivers.
As a former resident of Longboat Key, I drive along Gulf of Mexico Drive several times week. Weekends are when most of the cyclists are out on the road. It is definitely a hazard for driver! I hope that the cyclists take heed.

+ Restaurants are crucial to St. Armands Circle
Dear Editor:
Regarding the consultant who feels restaurants should be restricted and limited in downtown Sarasota and St. Armands Circle … Oh, for crying out loud! What next?
I thought everyone knew the expression, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” It looks like what we have here is another “big brother” deal. To my way of thinking, the restaurants on St. Armands Circle are a magnet for retailers and vice-versa. As an example, we probably would not even go to St. Armands or downtown Sarasota if not for the restaurants … or occasionally the theater. Please reconsider your thinking, Marty Rappaport and the other Business Improvement District board members.
